Children's Worship in our Parish
In our Parish we have a lot of opportunity for the younger members of our church family to learn and have fun while developing their faith. By combining fun and fellowship, our children’s worship activities offer something for children of all ages.
During communion services, children's worship is run by our leaders, exploring God’s love for us through Bible stories linked as closely as possible to the message of the morning service. All children aged 3-12 are welcome to join us, whether they are first time visitors or regular congregation.
At our children's worship sessions we welcome each other and usually begin with the Lord’s prayer together followed by the theme we are exploring. We encourage the children to ask questions and we encourage a sense of the wonder of God’s world.
We offer differentiated activities all in the same room where children have easy access back to family members at any time. There are play areas for the younger children and sometimes we enjoy a whole group art activity together.
We have snack times and provide drinks, nibbles and fruit, asking parents and carers to inform us of dietary needs and any allergies. The children rejoin their families in time for communion for a blessing or any baptism. For those children who wish to stay with their parents, we offer pew packs which include colouring and activity sheets again linked to the worship theme, and there are pew bags containing construction bricks for younger children, together with a playspace for preschoolers.
After the session, the children are welcomed back into the service and invited to show the congregation what they have learned or made. They are invited by the Vicar to the 'story step' to tell the congregation what they have been doing. This completes a full range of fun, learning and worship for our young church family.
For family, friends and school groups, we also offer an Explorers Trail, which is a series of fun challenges set out especially for children (around Key Stage 2 age group, but which can be adapted- please ask us!). A limited number of booklets for completing the trail, and guidance for parents and teachers are available in Church, and can also be downloaded below. These challenges can be completed whenever you wish, or in conjunction with school visits. Subject to availability, we can offer assistance with organised visits.
